Frequently Asked Questions
Currently, only students who are planning to take the CYBV498: Capstone in Cyber Operations class this Spring are eligible to participate. After our inaugural cohort, we are looking to expand and allow for more participation from a broader selection of Cyber Operations students.
The class will follow a similar course progression, but will be focused towards supporting non-profits, small businesses and K-12 institutions secure their networks. The focus will be on learning how to conduct a risk assessment, meeting with clients, conducting an analysis, completing a technical report, and conducting a briefing with the client, all with the support of the Cybersecurity Clinic Faculty. It will also require a high level of commitment and follow-through as we will be serving real clients.
The Arizona Cybersecurity Clinic offers hands-on experience, professional development, soft-skills training, certification assistance, and scholarship opportunities to help students advance their careers. Not only will you have a great experience to add to your resume, but you will join the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics across the country who are being trained as the next generation of cyber leaders and safeguarding community organizations.
In addition, you will get free access to complete the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. And, upon completion, you will also earn a University of Arizona verified digital badge/micro credential in Cybersecurity Risk and Vulnerability Assessment.
This is a very unique and exciting opportunity for a college student to get to act as a consultant and apply the skills learned in the classroom in a real-world setting and have a positive impact in the community.
A high level of accountability and follow-through will be required as we are serving real organizations and making actionable recommendations to improve their cyber infrastructure.
